Executive Summary
The European medical device industry association, Eucomed, is holding a meeting on August 20 to discuss the industry response to the European Commission's web-based consultation on the need for a community legal framework on human tissue engineered products. The industry already has its own position paper on this subject, but is likely to have to shift its position to take into account pressures and influences from the pharmaceutical sector. For more details of the Commission's proposals contained in the consultation document posted on its website last month, see Clinica No 1015, p 3. For more information about Eucomed's position on human tissues, see the association's website at: www.eucomed.org
