UK MDA (Medical Devices Agency) joins cochlear implant-related meningitis investigation

The UK Medical Devices Agency has launched an investigation into the possible link between bacterial meningitis and cochlear implantation, after recent reports of an increased worldwide incidence of the problem among these patients. So far, one such case has been reported in the UK. However, "no specific causal relationship has yet been identified", says the MDA.
