Spanish soya implant victories pave way for class action

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The first two of 41 individual criminal negligence cases brought in Spain against the manufacturer and distributor of the ill-fated Trilucent soya-oil breast implant have resulted in a landmark victory for the women involved. The two verdicts of "clear negligence" against AEI Inc and Collagen Biomedical Iberica are set to pave the way for a similar outcome in the remaining cases and for the launch of a class action.
