Under its present form, Germany's new diagnosis related groups (DRG) system for hospital reimbursement represents a potential threat to large-scale and university hospitals and therefore must be postponed, claims the Munich University Hospitals. It has called for the optional phase for hospital membership to begin in 2004 and the obligatory phase in 2005.
