Private company CHF Solutions, which is developing a mechanical pump/filter to remove excess fluid from patients, has closed a $26m series D financing. The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota-based company plans to use the funds to set up a sales and marketing infrastructure for direct US distribution, to build inventory, for international launch and US clinical trials of its product, the System 100 fluid removal system. In congestive heart failure alone, some five million people in the US suffer from fluid overload, which costs more than $23bn annually, the company says.
