Breast cancer screening is due to begin in Wallonia, French-speaking Belgium, in August. It will have taken over 18 months since the decision to set up the programme was taken. There have been suggestions that the start date - in the middle of the European holiday period - will mean the programme will not actually get off the ground until September.
