SonoSite has gained US 510(k) clearance for its iLook hand-held ultrasound platform. The company, which develops small ultrasound scanning equipment for point-of-care use, says that its products allow trained physicians to obtain high quality ultrasound images earlier, in order to improve patient outcomes. SonoSite, of Bothell, Washington, has sold over 7,500 units worldwide since 1999.
