Arthrex, of Naples, Florida, is to incorporate SaluMedica's SaluCartilage implant into its 2,000-strong line of arthroscopic and minimally invasive orthopaedic surgical products. SaluCartilage is designed to replace damaged articular cartilage and comes in a range of sizes to complement Arthrex' instrumentation. The hydrogel's mechanical and physical properties are comparable to human tissue. The organic polymer-based biomaterial is also highly compatible, Atlanta, Georgia-based SaluMedica says. SaluMedica also gains widespread and immediate access to the global orthopaedics market, the company adds.
