The US health plan provider, Blue Shield of California, has agreed to make available a noninvasive surgical treatment from HealthTronics Surgical (Marietta, Georgia) to its 2.1 million state members. The treatment, Orthotripsy extracorporeal shock wave treatment (ESWT), is being provided under contract by the HealthTronics subsidiary, HT Orthotripsy Management Company, and will be available at 19 Californian centres.
