The completion of the human genome map is on target for the end of 2003, according to Cordis Focus, the European Commmission newsletter. The president of the human genome organisation, Professor Yoshi Sakaki, has said that a precise map of over 90% of the human genome is set to be completed next year. The European Commission has allocated E39.4 million ($34.7 million) of funding to three large-scale projects which aim to build on the achievements of the human genome.
