Scotland is preparing to launch what is being billed as the world's first diabetic retinopathy screening programme. Digital retinal cameras will be used to annually screen all diabetics, in line with advice issued recently by the Health Technology Board for Scotland (HTBS), which provides evidence-based advice to NHSScotland on the clinical and cost effectiveness of new and existing health technologies.
