The medical device industry is raising fresh concerns about the difficulty of buying raw materials for medical implants. Material suppliers are creating such supply problems that the whole sector "may be heading for a crisis," a group of public and private experts recently concluded after a closed-door workshop sponsored by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).
