GE Medical Systems has announced that it will launch three CT scanners this year onto a market worth a potential $2.7 billion worldwide. A HiSpeed CT/e Dual CT scanner, which is claimed to reduce radiation dose by 30-50%, was introduced at last week's European Congress of Radiology meeting, Vienna, Austria. A four-slice HiSpeed QX/i CT scanner is planned for launch in July 2002. In addition, the firm has announced that it will be ready to launch its 16-slice CT scanner, called LightSpeed 16, in autumn this year.
