Executive Summary

In order to compensate for the "crippling" deficit in the number of doctors in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the state has called for the introduction of a Green Card for foreign physicians. "A Green Card would at least be a short term solution to relive the pressure in the employment market," said Dr Andreas Crusius, president of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern doctors' chamber. In order to improve conditions in the long term, he has called on the government to improve the image of the profession to attract more young people.
