The US FDA is authorising states to certify mammography facilities, inspect them, and enforce the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992, starting May 7 2000. An FDA final rule published last week established the standards that states must meet and sets procedures for application, approval, evaluation and withdrawal of approval of participating states.
