Executive Summary

Surgical robot systems developer Computer Motion, of Santa Barbara, California, has entered a strategic alliance with the UK's Smith & Nephew, Endoscopy Division, covering Computer Motion's voice recognition system, Hermes. It is the seventh such deal between the company and medical device firms. The S&N division will sell and service the full line of Hermes products worldwide, and offer its own products as "Hermes ready". Over 700 Hermes systems have been placed to date.
