Use of the PVC softener DEHP in medical devices, which has been under increasing public scrutiny for the last two years, was last week the subject of a warning call from a Health Canada expert group. An advisory panel attached to Health Canada said in a report released on the website on January 24 that the risk to newborns, infants, toddlers and children from use of the plasticiser made "alternate measures immediately justifiable".
