The healthcare workforce shortage is severe and getting worse, according to a survey released last week by four major hospital groups. The study by First Consulting Group found that the vacancy rate for imaging radiology technicians is more than 15%, the rate for registered nurses and pharmacists well over 10% and the rate for laboratory technicians slightly less than 10%.
