Executive Summary
The UK's National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) is preparing to develop clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and for the identification and management of genetic risk of familial breast cancer. The work will add to the growing body of work that the institute is devoting to cancer-related topics. NICE was recently forced to defend its work in this area, after it was strongly criticised during a parliamentary inquiry on cancer research (see this page).
