Sulzer Medica patients get more time to mull proposal

Executive Summary

US district court judge Kathleen O'Malley has decided to give patients more time to decide whether to accept Sulzer Medica's proposed class action settlement relating to the company's faulty hip and knee products. Patients affected by the faulty products now have until May 2 2002 to decide whether they wish to participate in or opt out of the proposed settlement. The final fairness hearing into the settlement has also been put back from March 12 to May 14.
