North Korea is to benefit from European Commission funds to purchase medical kits and relaunch the production of intravenous fluids in five hospitals. The Commission is allocating a total of E1.9 million ($1.7 million) for essential health actions in North Korea, which is suffering a continuing humanitarian crisis, linked to structural economic deficiencies. The Danish Red Cross/ IFRC will help with the supply of medical kits to over 1,700 health institutions in North Korea, while the French NGO Premiere Urgence will support the production of intravenous fluids.
