Guidant (Indianapolis, Indiana) has appointed Beverly Lorell to the newly created role of chief medical and technology officer. Dr Lorell, who most recently served as Professor of medicine at Harvard University Medical School and director of the programme in heart failure at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, has also been appointed as vice-president of Guidant's management committee and is a member of Compass, the company's investing and business development group.
