Executive Summary
The FDA is raising the fee it charges for mammography inspections to cover its rising operational costs. As always, the new fee varies depending on how many machines must be inspected. Imaging centres with only one unit will pay a fee of $1,749, compared to $1,549 at present. Centres that have more than one unit will pay an additional fee of $204 for each extra unit inspected. Follow-up inspections will cost a flat $991, whatever the size of the facility. The new fees will go into effect on October 1.
