Comparisons of magnetic resonance (MR) scanners on the UK market are highlighted in two recent reports from the medical devices section of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The first is a comparison of 1.5 Tesla MR systems and looks at system specification and technical evaluation. This covers: the latest 1.5T systems from Siemens, GE and Philips; technical tests on parallel imaging coils and sequences; and specification data from Toshiba 1.5T MR systems. The second is a brief special interest report on the specifications of cardiac MR systems. This evaluates three systems: Siemens' Sonata Maestro Class; GE Signa Infinity (Twinspeed gradients); and Philips Intera CV. This report provides specifications on hardware, cardiac application packages, cardiac imaging sequences and parallel imaging techniques.
