Novare Surgical Systems has gained a US patent covering its Cygnet line of dual action surgical clamps for minimally invasive coronary artery bypass graft surgery, valve replacement and aortic aneurysm repair. The clamps are designed so that they can be either rigid of flexible. In a separate announcement, the Cupertino, California firm has entered into an agreement with Boston Scientific in which it will supply modified models of its Intrack line of surgical clamps to be marketed as part of Boston Scientific's new Cobra Bipolar system for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.
