Executive Summary
CADx Systems has received US FDA approval for two new computer-aided detection (CAD) systems for use with mammography. The Second Look Digital is aimed purely at highlighting suspicious areas on images taken using digital mammography, whilst the Second Look AD is a hybrid system able to analyse both traditional film-based or digital images. The approval allows both systems to process images from GE Medical Systems' Senographe 2000D full field digital mammography system. The Beavercreek, Ohio firm told Clinica it is also working on getting approval for integration of the products with imaging systems made by Fischer Imaging and Hologic. The new CAD systems complement the firm's Second Look CAD for film-based mammography, which is already on the market.
