Executive Summary
The European Commission is to allocate a budget of some E100,000 ($116,000) to a study that will look at the overall competitiveness of the European medical devices industry, according to the latest details to emerge. It will launch a call for tender on a study into the medical devices sector before the August summer break (see Clinica No 1052, p 2). The paucity of information on this sector was highlighted in the European Commission's report on the five-year review of the Medical Devices Directive. The launch of this study is intended to remedy the situation.
