Ambion RNA Diagnostics (Austin, Texas) has launched a stable RNA control for use in the molecular detection of the coronavirus associated with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The company used its Armored RNA technology to create a viral RNA control that is packaged in protective, stabilising bacteriophage coat proteins. The control can endure long-term storage in plasma or serum, and is non-infectious.
