The World Health Organization (WHO) is to work with the UK's National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) in developing a programme of joint projects aimed at improving adverse event reporting internationally. The two bodies are not yet sure how this "huge collaboration" will be established - whether through a network of collaborative centres or by simply sharing research. A decision will be made within the next few months, the NPSA told Clinica. "The NPSA has been recognised by the WHO as fast becoming one of the world leaders in patient safety, and we are confident that together we can share the best of patient safety innovation, research and thinking worldwide," said NPSA joint chief executive Sue Osborn.
