Brazil's health minister, Humberto Costa, has ordered a thorough investigation of all public hospitals in the state of Rio de Janeiro, following allegations of corruption. During a visit this week to the state's leading trauma and orthopaedics centre (INTO), where an internal enquiry has been launched, he said that purchasing contracts would come under particular scrutiny.
