More office-based general practitioners and specialists should be given the right to refer patients directly for computer tomography (CT) scans in much the same way as they are now allowed to requisition laboratory diagnostics, says MP and healthcare expert Jette Bergenholz Bautrup. This could cut public hospital waiting times for patients requiring scans in cases of suspected dementia or disc prolapse.
