Executive Summary
Conmed has completed its $48m acquisition of Bionx Implants, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of bio-absorbable implants for sports medicine surgical procedures (see Clinica No 1041, p 11). Joseph Corasanti, Conmed's president and COO, anticipates the transaction to be neutral to earnings in 2003, with the exception of certain one-time charges, and is "looking forward to accretive earnings in 2004 as a result of synergies in selling and administration".
