Executive Summary

A German random diagnosis study with the oral glucose tolerance test for diabetes (OGTT) has revealed that the country has one of the highest incidence rates in Europe. The research, undertaken between October 1999 and April 2001 in the region of Augsburg in the federal state of Bavaria, was part of the KORA Survey 2000 and was the first of its kind aimed at discovering unregistered cases of diabetes.
