Disparity in access to devices among disabled EU citizens

There are still major disparities in patient and clinician access to medical technology between member states in Europe - and even within individual member states. That is the view of the European medical devices industry association, Eucomed, as the Greek Presidency of the European Council launched the European Year of People with Disabilities 2003 on January 26. Eucomed claims that the lack of funding and reimbursement for medical technology products aimed at the disabled "often makes an appropriate treatment impossible".
