The UK is to modernise its genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinics, under a £300m ($580m) investment in sexual health services that will also see a greater emphasis on screening. The plans were announced in response to the latest statistics on the incidence of HIV/AIDS and sexually-transmitted infections (STIs), which include an 8% rise in chlamydia, to almost 90,000 cases.
