Off-pump surgery reduces mortality, says German study

Use of off-pump surgery in coronary artery bypass procedures has been shown to have particular advantages in women, according to the results of a German study. Research done at the Grosshadern (Munich) clinic has demonstrated a 42% reduction in mortality among female heart disease patients who underwent off pump coronary artery bypass. So says Aktion Meditech (www.aktion-meditech.de), a coalition of patients, doctors and medtech companies that aims to promote effective use of technology in German healthcare.
