Executive Summary
New evidence has led the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to update its Device Alert concerning Becton Dickinson's Vacutainer range of blood collection tubes, when used in combination with certain test systems and markers. The Becton Dickinson products have not been recalled (as reported erroneously in Clinica No 1129, p 7), however the alert did instruct all laboratories to not use the tubes in these combinations and to warn service users of the problem.
