Executive Summary
Volcano Therapeutics, the Rancho Cordova, California maker of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) products, has secured a third distribution partner in Japan. Goodman Company, the leading IVUS distributor in Japan, will target all the Japanese hospitals not currently covered by Volcano's existing partners, Fukuda Denshi and Johnson & Johnson Cordis. Volcano is preparing to introduce a new IVUS catheter platform in Japan next year, and is also planning to launch new IVUS tissue characterisation technology, called Virtual Histology, to assess underlying plaque histopathology.
