Medicare has decided it generally will not cover use of an implantable insulin pump to treat insulin-dependent persons with type II diabetes. Rather than ruling on the pump itself, the agency ruled on a Medtronic request that it no longer rely on the results of a peptide C test to determine whether or not a person should qualify for the pump.
