Switzerland has amended its criteria for blood donations to guard against the spread of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs). The new regulations - which will be in place by October 1 - have been drafted by the federal health ministry, the blood transfusion service, SRK, and Swissmedic, the agency for therapeutic products.
