Executive Summary
Boston Scientific is to expand its vascular access product line with the addition of SonoSite's iLook 15 and iLook 25 handheld ultrasound systems. The devices are designed to provide real-time ultrasound imaging to guide the insertion of catheters and ports into the target vessel during interventional procedures. The agreement, which extends to 2008 with the option for renewal, will see Boston's oncology division become exclusive distributor of the systems in the US. Distribution is expected to begin later in the third quarter, subject to SonoSite completing the transfer of sub-distribution rights from contracts with hospital purchasing organisations.
