Executive Summary

Gen-Probe says that it remains on track to file a US marketing application to commercialise its West Nile virus (WNV) blood screening assay in the first quarter of 2005. The San Diego, California firm has begun a pivotal clinical trial of the nucleic acid test, Procleix, WNV, which, since July 2003 has been used to screen the US blood supply for the virus under an investigational new drug application. The assay has been developed in collaboration with Emeryville, California-based Chiron, the test's distributor.
