Orthopaedic medical device company Wright Medical has gained US market clearance for its Allomatrix family of allograft bone void fillers. Following FDA clearance of its Allomatrix injectable putty in March this year, the company has now been given the go-ahead to sell its Allomatrix C, Allomatrix Custom, and Allomatrix DR bone graft putties that contain demineralised bone matrix (DBM) and specific volumes and configurations of donor matched, cancellous bone chips. The Arlington, Tennessee firm claims that its Allomatrix products and Osteoset 2 DBM bone graft substitute are the only commercially available, FDA-cleared products which contain DBM.
