The Australian government is inviting applications for the provision of up to 20 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines to regional and metropolitan areas, where the system is currently not readily available. The equipment will be financed under the Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS) and is aimed at increasing access, whilst ensuring that it is affordable, the ministry of health said.
