Two Democratic Senators have introduced legislation in the US that would change its basic charter to include preventing illness as well as diagnosing and treating illness. This change alone will open the door for Medicare to cover cost-effective preventive services for its elderly and disabled beneficiaries, according to Senators Bill Graham of Florida and Richard Durbin of Illinois.
