EU manufacturers of electromedical devices could find that their declaration of conformity to the key electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standard is out of date in just over four months time. November 1 2004 is the date that the current 1993 version of the EMC standard for electromedical devices, EN60601-1-2, expires, and the latest version, published in 2001, becomes mandatory.
