Plans to develop Scotland's £200m ($352m) Centre for Biomedical Research are on schedule, following the acquisition of the 100 acre site on which it will be based adjacent to the clinical facilities of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Scottish Enterprise will invest £22.9m in the state-of-the-art centre that is being billed as the flagship facility for Scotland's bioscience activities. The infrastructure development programme, spanning 15 years, is due to begin in early 2005.
