Executive Summary
President Bush has signed into law a bill providing $79m in federal funding for a new programme that will manage the processes governing donated cord blood and donated bone marrow. The CW Bill Young Cell Transplantation programme, to be operated by private contractors, will replace the more narrowly-focused National Bone Marrow Donor Registry, which has been operating for some 20 years.
