Canada's Newfoundland & Labrador provincial government has pledged Can$6.7m (US$5.6m) to construct a new health clinic in the town of Grand Bank on the Burin Peninsula. It will provide basic outpatient services, with a laboratory and X-ray services. Efforts are being made to improve health facilities in the peninsula as well as throughout Newfoundland & Labrador. In July this year, Can$1.05m was invested in a new CT scanner to serve the more than 23,000 residents in the peninsula, and Can$1.2m will be spent to construct a cancer clinic at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor.
