Joshua Jacobs has been elected to the board of voluntary standard developer ASTM International (West Conshohcken, Pennsylvania) for 2004-2006. The organisation has also named John Kirkpatrick, a member since 1993, as the new chair of ASTM on medical and surgical materials and devices.
